Roatan Views

Roatan is the largest of the six Bay Islands and is located in the Caribbean Sea approximately 35 miles off the North Coast of Honduras. It is 32 miles long and varies in width from one to three miles across.

A valid passport is required to enter the country of Honduras. Honduras requires no visa to enter the country, but visitors who intend to stay longer than 30 days should apply for a 90 day visa from the Honduran consulate before arriving. Residency paperwork can also be found at the consulate.

The Lempira is the official currency of Honduras. Major credit cards are widely accepted and cash advances can be made with credit cards at most banks. American Express Travelers Checks in US dollars are also accepted.

Roatan’s population almost all speaks Caribbean English and Spanish. The current population of Roatan is approximately 60,000, which is a mix of a growing ex-patriot community, native islanders and immigrants from the mainland.
Continental, Taca, Delta and a charter flight from Italy all fly direct to the Roatan International Airport. Local airline carriers also service Roatan, Utila and Guanaja with daily flights from all major destinations in Honduras, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.

You'll find a full set of services on Roatan. There are several high-speed Internet providers, both cable and satellite TV providers, and a cell phone provider.

The Bay Islands offer a wide range of activities and attractions. Some of these are world class diving and snorkeling, kayaking, white sandy beaches for swimming and sunbathing, sailing, deep sea and fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding, Caribbean sunsets and trade wind breezes and of course relaxing, our personal favorite.
